Kolkata: Just before the Lok Sabha elections, a major blow has hit West Bengal Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee. Senior leader of the Trinamool Congress, Tapas Roy, resigned from his legislative position on Monday, expressing dissatisfaction with the party’s functioning. Tapas Roy has resigned at a time when the country is gearing up for the Lok Sabha elections. Now, speculations are rife that he might join the Bharatiya Janata Party.
