At a Cabinet meeting chaired by Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath on Friday, the Cabinet approved a proposal to provide two free LPG cylinder refills to beneficiaries of the Pradhan Mantri Ujjwala Yojana during the financial year 2026-27.
Under the Pradhan Mantri Ujjwala Yojana, Yogi government has provided free cylinder refills to beneficiaries in two phases, on Holi and Diwali, in previous financial years. This step has increased clean fuel adoption among beneficiaries. It has also helped reduce the harmful effects of smoke on the environment and the health of women and children.
As in the previous year, beneficiaries associated with the Pradhan Mantri Ujjwala Yojana will also receive two free LPG cylinder refills during the current financial year 2026-27. The first phase will provide free refills from October to December 2026, and the second phase from January to March 2027. The total estimated financial burden on the state government will be Rs. 2,142.78 crore.
The scheme’s benefits will be available to those ACTC beneficiaries of Pradhan Mantri Ujjwala Yojana whose bank accounts are linked to Aadhaar and whose Aadhaar is authenticated. Only such beneficiaries will be eligible for free LPG refills. This government decision will make life more convenient for beneficiaries covered under the Pradhan Mantri Ujjwala Yojana.
Free refills to be provided in two phases, from October to December 2026 and January to March 2027, respectively
