Betrayed, Murdered, and Concealed in a Cement Drum: The Shocking Case of Saurabh Rajput

Meerut, India – A chilling murder case has emerged from Meerut, sending shockwaves across the nation. Saurabh Rajput, a 35-year-old ex-merchant navy officer, was brutally murdered by his wife Muskan Rastogi and her lover Sahil Shukla. The couple then dismembered his body and concealed it inside a drum filled with cement in an attempt to cover up their crime.

The Victim: A Life Cut Short

Saurabh Rajput married Muskan Rastogi in 2016, defying family opposition. The couple lived in a rented house with their six-year-old child. Having severed ties with his family, Rajput dedicated himself to his marriage, only to meet a gruesome fate at the hands of the woman he loved.

On February 24, Saurabh returned to India from London to celebrate Muskan’s birthday. He had brought with him Rs 1 crore, which he distributed among close acquaintances. His brother, Bablu Rajput, confirmed that the siblings were not on talking terms, adding, “He never stayed with us.”

A Macabre Discovery

Nearly 15 days after the crime, a decomposed body was discovered inside a water drum in the couple’s residence. SP City Ayush Vikram Singh stated, “We received a tip-off about a foul smell from the victim’s house. Upon investigation, we found his body chopped into pieces and sealed in cement.”

Police believe that on March 4, Muskan and Sahil murdered Saurabh before embarking on a trip to the hills. Upon returning home, guilt overcame Muskan, leading her to confess to her mother, Kavita Rastogi. Understanding the gravity of the situation, Kavita took her daughter to the police station and disclosed the crime.

A Love Story Turned Deadly

Kavita, deeply shaken, told authorities, “Saurabh was mad for my daughter. He left his family just to marry her. He was like my son.”

Forensic experts faced difficulties in determining the cause of death due to the severe decomposition of the remains. Chief Medical Officer Ashok Kataria said, “We had to use a marble cutter to extract the body parts. The remains were not sufficient for a thorough examination.”

Justice Awaits

Both Muskan and Sahil were arrested on March 19. Authorities are now piecing together the full sequence of events, while Saurabh’s tragic fate remains a grim reminder of betrayal and crime.

As the investigation continues, one question lingers—was it love gone wrong or a premeditated act of greed and deceit? The courts will decide, but for now, the echoes of this horrific crime haunt those who knew Saurabh Rajput.
