Delhi Man Burnt Alive by Wife: No Arrests Even After Three Months

March 26, 2025 | NewsStreetLive

A shocking case of domestic violence has come to light in Delhi, where 25-year-old Suraj was allegedly set on fire by his wife, Jyoti alias Kittu, on January 1, 2025. Despite the severity of the crime and the Delhi High Court dismissing her anticipatory bail plea, no arrests have been made even after three months, raising serious questions about police inaction.

Activists Call Out Police Inaction

Men’s rights activist and journalist Deepika Bhardwaj has been vocal about the case, criticizing the Delhi Police, particularly Nangloi Police Station, for their alleged bias. She claims that while authorities act swiftly in cases where women are victims, they are apathetic when men suffer domestic abuse.

“This is not an isolated incident. Men who are victims of domestic violence often struggle to get justice due to systemic bias,” Bhardwaj stated.

A Troubling History of Allegations

Bhardwaj revealed that Jyoti has a history of filing false cases and manipulating legal loopholes. Allegedly married at least three times before, she has previously accused her father-in-law and brother-in-law of rape. Her former husband had also accused her of extortion and assault, yet police refused to register an FIR against her.

Selective Law Enforcement?

Critics argue that had the roles been reversed—if a husband had set his wife on fire—he would have been arrested immediately. Bhardwaj has called out the Delhi Police on social media, questioning their lack of action.

“Why has Jyoti not been arrested despite overwhelming evidence? Had it been a woman victim, the accused would have been in custody within hours,” Bhardwaj tweeted, tagging @DelhiPolice, @ps_nangloi, @CPDelhi, and @DCPWestDelhi.

A Cry for Justice

With growing outrage on social media, activists are urging authorities to take immediate action and ensure justice for Suraj. Bhardwaj has encouraged journalists to highlight the case and has offered to connect media professionals with Suraj to share his ordeal.

As the pressure mounts on law enforcement, the crucial question remains: Will the Delhi Police finally act, or will this case become yet another example of justice denied to male victims of domestic violence?
