Lucknow: A 32-year-old conductor of a UP state transport bus, who along with the driver was suspended for allegedly allowing two passengers to offer namaz after halting the vehicle for two minutes on the Bareilly-Delhi national highway enroute to Delhi on June 3, has killed himself by jumping in front of a running train in Mainpuri. Mohit Yadav went missing on Sunday night and his body was found on the railway tracks near his house the next morning.
Mohit belonged to Nagla Khushali under Ghiror police limits in UP’s Mainpuri. He worked as a contractual employee with UPSRTC for over eight years and used to get a monthly salary of about Rs 17,000. His services were terminated after the incident. After Mohit’s death, his close friend said, “He had no money and was struggling to make ends meet.”
It was earlier reported that the driver and conductor were both suspended with “immediate effect” on June 5, rendering them “jobless”.
SHO (Ghiror), Bholu Singh Bhati, said on Monday: “Mohit’s body was found on the rail track by GRP officials and has been sent for autopsy. No complaint has been lodged yet.”
Incidentally, Mohit had spoken with his close friend perhaps moments before his death. Requesting anonymity, his friend said , “We used to work together. When he called me up on Sunday night, he had no money to even recharge his phone. He said that despite having filed an appeal there was no hope of getting the job back.”
His friend added: “Lately, Mohit slipped into depression due to the attitude of (regional manager of UPSRTC, Bareilly) Deepak Chaudhary.”
Asked about it, Chaudhary said, “We suspended him after a complaint on social media. The (namaz) video shared by the complainant was self-explanatory. Mohit could have filed an appeal. The reason behind his death could be something else.”
