Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath stated that no woman forced to leave her home or facing domestic violence would now have to wander from door to door. The 100-bed Government Women’s Shelter Home in Gorakhpur will support such women. The government is continuously working to fulfill the vision of ‘Viksit Bharat’ by ensuring respect and security for women and advancing them on the path of self-reliance. Taking a dig at the Opposition over employment, he stated, “You keep counting; we will keep giving jobs. You will get tired counting, but we will not get tired giving jobs to the youth of Uttar Pradesh.”
CM Yogi addressed the inauguration ceremony of the Government Women’s Shelter Home, constructed at a cost of ₹8.05 crore, in Semra, Chargawan, on Wednesday. He inspected the shelter home, interacted with the women residing there and enquired about the facilities available to them. Chief Minister also reviewed the boards displaying various schemes.
CM Yogi said the government stands with a girl from birth through her education, marriage, security, and self-reliance. Under the Mukhyamantri Kanya Sumangala Yojana, the government provides ₹25,000 in assistance to a girl from birth through graduation. Under the Mukhyamantri Samuhik Vivah Yojana, an arrangement of ₹1 lakh has been made. In the schools of the Basic Education Department, 1.60 crore children are being provided uniforms, bags, books, shoes, socks, and sweaters. He said 1.10 crore families are receiving a pension of ₹12,000 annually, and 65 lakh poor people have been provided houses in the state under the Pradhan Mantri and Mukhyamantri Awas Yojana.
Targeting the erstwhile Samajwadi Party government, CM Yogi said that before 2017, the situation in the state had become such that the saying, “Dekh Sapai, Bitiya Ghabraai,” had become prevalent. Families used to worry about their daughters’ education and security. There was an atmosphere of hooliganism, land encroachment and anarchy. Today, Uttar Pradesh is free from curfews, riots, fear, hooliganism and encroachments. When society and government work in the same direction, results have emerged.
He stated that choosing good people leads to good facilities. Government is assisting ₹4,000 per month to children who were rendered destitute during the Corona period. The government has also provided laptops to these children to help them with their studies.
CM Yogi stated that under Mission Rojgar, more than 9.5 lakh youth have so far been provided government jobs. New employment opportunities are emerging in different sectors. More than three crore people have received employment through 96 lakh MSME units in the state. Many of these units are run by women. With more than 24,000 startups, youth of Uttar Pradesh are now not only becoming job seekers but also job providers.
He stated that women are writing a new story of self-reliance as Lakhpati Didis, Drone Didis and Banking Correspondent Sakhis. Through the Nari Vandan Adhiniyam, the way has also been ensured for women’s representation in the Lok Sabha and Legislative Assembly.
CM Yogi stated that before 2017, encephalitis used to consume the lives of children in eastern Uttar Pradesh. Around 500 children used to die at BRD Medical College alone. Due to the government’s efforts, number of deaths has now reached zero. He also mentioned the changes in road, rail and air connectivity in Gorakhpur. He stated that with better road connectivity, the journey to Varanasi can now be completed in about two and a half hours.
Chief Minister Yogi stated that whether it is a woman who is a victim of domestic violence or a daughter, sister or elderly woman who has become separated from her family for any reason, this shelter home will become their support. Referring to an elderly woman residing at the shelter home, he stated that she is unable to speak and there is no information about her home or address. The government supports such people and works to reunite them with their legal guardians. CM expected the Department of Women Welfare to ensure better operation of the shelter home. CM Yogi extended greetings on Vaman Jayanti, referred to the Vaman incarnation of Lord Vishnu and congratulated those present.
Gorakhpur MP Ravi Kishan Shukla stated that keeping in mind where a destitute woman would go in the cold and how she would find shelter, CM Yogi got this shelter home constructed at a cost of more than ₹8 crore. He stated that Uttar Pradesh had taken a new turn after 2017. The rule of law has curbed the mafia and hooliganism. Earlier, incidents of encroachment on the land of the poor and extortion used to take place, whereas today the government stands with the poor and women. He also mentioned the government’s work on employment and public welfare schemes.
In his welcome address, Pipraich MLA Mahendrapal Singh said the government has ensured public welfare schemes reach eligible people. In eastern UP, a large number of children used to lose their lives to encephalitis, but effective control has been achieved through the government’s efforts. The government is working with resolve to employ youth and secure daughters. Under the leadership of CM Yogi, UP is moving ahead towards becoming an Uttam Pradesh after emerging from the image of a ‘Bimaru’ Pradesh.
At the program, laptops were provided to Akshita Gupta, Palak Chauhan, Deepika, Priyanshi Yadav, Umra Anjum, Ayushi Yadav, Sudhir Kumar, Priyanshu Yadav, Aneesh Kumar Singh and Rudra Pratap Ranjan under the Mukhyamantri Bal Seva Yojana operated by the Department of Women and Child Development.
